Alka Translations Monthly Status Report: April 2022

Hello, all and sundry! Saitou here to report that oh, boy, has this ever been a busy month! Busy enough, in fact, that I completely forgot I’d volunteered to write this post until, err, five minutes ago and counting. So, yeah, apologies in advance if this ends up being an unusually short one for me!

Speaking of short things, this month’s news on the RB front won’t take long to deliver, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad! Log’s made a ton of progress on reworking the Tsumugi route, and we’re now officially past the halfway point on it! 100% translation completion is so close I can taste it, at this point, and believe me when I say that I’m exactly as excited as you are to see us hit that milestone!

I can’t talk about hitting 100% translation without going over the obligatory caveat that just because the translation’s done will not mean we’ll be ready to release the patch immediately, though. I’ve been picking off as many little potentially-delay-inducing tasks behind the scenes as I can, but the fact of the matter is that some aspects of final testing and polish won’t be possible for us until Tsumugi’s ready. We’re hoping for a fairly speedy turnaround after the final route’s done, but if there’s one thing we’ve learned over the course of this undertaking it’s that ‘fairly speedy’ has a way of turning into ‘actually very slow’ for the most unpredictable reasons sometimes.

Not to be a downer, or anything! We’re working hard when we can, and with a little bit of luck these final steps will proceed without hilariously poorly-timed inconvenience (for once)!

And, before I leave you, an update on Kud: I, err, honestly haven’t had the time to do much on that front recently! The free time I have had has been devoted to the aforementioned picking off of tiny RB tasks and getting us all prepared for that release. Just wanted to make a note that I haven’t forgotten about that game, and I’m really excited to get back to it!

And, that’s about all I can think of to mention offhand! Thanks for your patience, as always, and see you next month!

Thanks for the update! I was wondering for a while. Since Air actually got a patch importing the translation to the switch version, do you think it’s possible to do the same with RB, since it’s also available on the Nintendo console?

I can’t comment on whether or not that would be technically possible since I don’t know the first thing about how patching a switch game is done, but I CAN say with fair confidence that I’m afraid it’s not on our radar at the moment! The latter point’s mostly on account of the former, frankly—to the best of my knowledge none of our current members have the sort of experience working with Switch games that would be needed to pull it off
